Doctor Visits and Childhood Friends

Ally just turned 2 on December the 1st which means time for another check-up. This visit was the first time I have ever seen Ally smile and have fun the entire time she was there. Here are her latest stats:

Weight: 23 lbs. 1 oz.
Height: 34 Inches

Ally's weight has been in the 3% on the charts since she was born(she was born 5 weeks early), so the doctor was glad to see her weight jump up to the 5-10% of her age group. She loves milk and peanut butter so I think that has helped put on the pounds. Her height has always been in the 25-50% range. She is still in size 18 month clothing, but will be moving up to a bigger size soon due to the high water pants I saw daddy put her in the other day....haha!

My good friend Angela Owen just recently had a beautiful baby boy. His name is Holden Chase and he was born 7lbs. 6 oz. at 2:00 am Monday the 21st. Once again she has completely impressed me by having another natural birth. Angela and I go way back. We met in 1st grade and were best friends until 6th grade. We both went to different schools after that, but have recently caught up with each other. Angela and I were pregnant at the same time with our daughters. Her daughter Madison is 2 months older than Allyson, and they have been playing together since birth.

Angela was on bed rest for over 6 weeks with Holden and is now taking care of both he and Madison, so to give her a little break I picked up Madi and took her and Allyson to Chuck E. Cheese. They had a blast as always. They are at the age now where they both get so excited when they even hear mention of the word Cheese. Here are a few pictures from their day.

Mini Martha Stewart

Lately our daughter has become very domestic and has found her place in the kitchen. I no longer can do the dishes or cook a meal without little martha pulling up a chair to the sink or countertop and trying to cook or clean like mommy does. I hope this same desire to help me stays around until she turns 18. Allyson helps rinse off the dishes and will put all of the silverware in the dishwasher. When I am cooking she always gets to help me mix the ingredients and then clean up the mess she usually makes.

Thanks to some friends of ours, Ally now has a kitchen of her own that she can do whatever she wants with. The other night she made Brian and I dinner. Brian got pizza and an orange slice on a plate and she made me eggs and peas.....just what I wanted....haha. While we were pretending to eat our delicious meals, Allyson came back with a third meal and she said it was for baby. Brian and I just looked at each other and laughed as Ally lifted up my shirt and started feeding carrots and toast to my bellybutton. She knows mommy has a baby in her belly, but I think she thinks my bellybutton is the baby. She always says HI to her baby brother or sister while patting on my belly button.

One month before Ally's second birthday she decided to potty train herself and now we can't keep her out of the bathroom. If she gets really excited she sometimes forgets to stop and go, but we are working on that still. This usually happens when she is over at Poppy and Mamaws or playing hide and seek with Daddy. We are excited that we won't have to do double diaper duty with baby #2 coming.

The wonderful town of Plainfield has recently built a recreation center a little over 2 minutes from our home. To those who don't live around here this facility has pretty much everything. The pictures above are of the childrens play world and the childrens indoor pool. They have an outdoor waterpark called "Splash Island" and I will post pictures of that in the summer. Our little Ally has turned into quite the waterbug and loves the pool. This is a huge change from last year when all she wanted to do was run around the side of the pool. The indoor pool water being about 90 degrees probably helps her get into the water a little easier. The pool water outside in the summertime couldn't have been more than 60 degrees. It was freezing!!

Here is a list of some of Ally's favorite things to do in the pool:

* JUMP, JUMP, JUMP! She loves that she is so light in the water and can jump really high (high to her is like 1 inch off the ground).

* Slide down the water slide.

* Lay on her stomach and kick her legs

* Blow bubbles or actually just blow at the water. She isn't brave enough to put her face all the way in so she just blows at the water.

It always give me a good laugh.

* Turn all of the water pipes on and off and pretend she is taking a shower under the water sprinklers.

* The newest one is her fascination with beach balls so we will have to take one with us next week.

As of Saturday I have spent 15 weeks in preggo-ville and I sure am finding joy here. I thought I was out of the clear of my annual sinus infection, but I thought wrong. It passed through quite a few of my family members and friends through church, so I just couldn't dodge it. The only bad part about getting a sinus infection while pregnant is that my body just doesn't seem to want to fight it off as quickly. With Allyson it seemed to linger around for about 6 weeks. I pray that this one doesn't take on that same longevity. Within a week I have had a couple of changes with my body. First, I can say that I actually feel the baby kicking. It started last week, but I wanted to feel a couple more of the same kicks before I confirmed it. I didn't feel Allyson kick until 21 weeks. My doctor said I would feel this one much earlier because I now have knowledge of the feeling when a baby kicks. When I was pregnant with Allyson she stretched out all of my stomach muscles which have weakened the lining between this baby and my stomach. I also have a vein in the back of my left leg that is starting to pain me when I walk. It started slightly in the last few weeks of my pregnancy with Allyson, but with this baby it has started earlier. Not sure what to do for it yet so in the mean time I try to keep my leg elavated whenever I am sitting down. I am definatley getting into my favorite part of pregnancy. This is the time when I start to look a little pregnant, but am not so big I am uncomfortable. I have most of my energy, and have a better grasp of the life forming inside my body everytime I feel that little flutter. Brian can't wait until he can feel his little one kicking. Hopefully sometime within the next 4 weeks. Here is a picture of my baby bump at 15 weeks weeks.

14 Weeks

Brian and I are very thankful once again for God granting us grace and giving us baby #2. We are knowledgeable of God's sovereignty in our lives everyday, so after losing two babies to miscarriages between May and October, we are extremely grateful for His blessing of forming this child in my womb. We are currently 14 weeks along in this pregnancy. The picture below is of a 14 wk. old baby in the womb. I am just amazed at what technology can do these days.

This pregnancy has been somewhat different from my first one. The doctors had me on pregnancy hormones and large intakes of folic acid for the first 12 weeks which contributed to alot of nausea, exhaustion, and headaches, but I haven't got sick like I did with Allyson. Because of my last two miscarriages I have been labeled as a high risk pregnancy. That means lots of ultrasounds between weeks 5 and 8. I won't have another ultrasound until week 18 when we hopefully will be able to find out the sex of the baby. We ask for your prayers before this ultrasound because the doctor will be looking for possible spine and brain defects that could have formed due to my MTHFR mutation (Methylene-Tetra-Hydro-Folate-Reductase). After my second miscarriage the doctors did some exstensive blood work to see if they could find the problem and they discovered I was born with a gene mutation that causes blood clotting. Basically this mutated gene fights against my bobies absorption of folic acid. Folic acid is what breaks down red blood cells and prevents clotting. The blood clotting is what was causing my miscarriages so the solution was to fight the gene and take more folic acid. Pregnant women take 400 mcg of folic acid in their prenatal pills and I have to take 4000 mcg. The only concern we have with all of this information is that I was already 3 weeks into this pregnancy when they discovered the problem, so there is concern that the lack of folic acid in those first few weeks could have been essential for the growth of the babies spine and brain. Our hope is in the fact that God is in complete control of everything and He has a perfect plan for this child, no matter what the results.

We have a "boy or girl" poll on our page so that you can guess the sex of our child. I was right when I guessed Allyson was a girl, but I am having a hard time figuring this one out. At 6 wks the babies heartbeat was 118. Then at 8 weeks the babies HB was 178. At my last appointment at 13 weeks the HB was 150. I haven't had any morning sickness like I did with Allyson and I am not as tired. With Allyson my skin seemed to clear up and glow and so far with this one my skin seems to break out certain times each month. My belly is not big enough to compare how I am carrying the baby just yet (high or low). I am very confused by my cravings because I am really drawn towards meats, cheeses, and breads, but I also have found myself not being able to resist a run to the store for a blow pop.....haha! I went throught a mexican phase where we had taco salads once every week and Qudoba was my restaurant of choose whenever we went out. My husband was loving every minute of it.

I will leave it up to you now to decide what you think I am having. There is a 50/50 chance you will be right...haha. I will keep you updated as I experience more changes and hopefully be able to post some pictures of my growing belly.

They Proved Us Wrong

Thanks to my wonderful parents, Brian and I were given two tickets to this years playoff game against the Chargers. As most of you know the colts just couldn't get the job done, but it was still an exciting game. Out of all of the games I have attended at the Dome I have never heard the crowd as loud and crazy as they were yesterday. The word around the stadium was that if the colts won the game then everyone was going to rush the field and take down the goal since they will be tearing it down anyway. People around us were using bottle openers to pop the metal seat numbers off of their chairs to take home as a momentum. It was a little sad to think that the Dome will be no more, but as we walked out of the game and saw the new Lucas Oil stadium we couldn't help but get excited for next years season. Here is some footage from the opening of the game.

Most of the time I really don't get into the half time shows at the colts games, but this time it was different. Jon Mclaughlin, a friend of mine from college was chosen by Indianapolis to do the half time show and we were so proud of him. He sang the song "Industry" from his CD titled "Indiana" and he did an excellent job. I caught a minute or two of his performance on video.

Even though the colts lost the game that really counts, we are still proud of the season they had this year. We'll have to try again next year, but for now Brian and I will be cheering on Bret Favre and the Green Bay Packers. Go Cheese!

Joining the Blogger World

Welcome to our blog. Brian, Lisa, Allyson, and Baby #2 hope that family and friends can enjoy following the lives of the Bostons. Ally will be expecting a new baby sister or brother come the first week in July. I will post more updates on this pregnancy later. Allyson just turned 2 on the 1st of December and we now officially have a toddler.


Our family is extremely excited for the Colts playoff game tomorrow. The last game to ever be played in the Dome. We will post pictures of the game next week.
